St. Louis’s average rent reached $968 in March, after a 0.8% increase since last year. One of Missouri’s largest job hubs and a renter majority city (52%) St. Louis is a desirable place to live and work in, with apartment prices below the national average of $1,407.

The average rent for an apartment in St. Louis increased less than in other surrounding areas since last year. In St. Charles, apartments go for $1,030 after a 3.9% increase, and in O'Fallon, rent went up by 3.1%, reaching $1,095.

The city with the largest renter share is St. Louis (52%), followed by St. Ann, where there are 44% renters. In St. Ann, apartment rents increased by 10.3% since last year, reaching $779. Maryland Heights has the third largest share of renters (42%) and saw a rent increase of 0.1% in the last year, reaching $963.
