Orlando’s average rent reached $1,391 in October, after a 3.5% decrease since last year. One of Florida’s largest job hubs and a renter household-majority city (65%), Orlando is a desirable place to live and work in, with apartment prices below the national average of $1,464.

Orlando’s rent growth compared to surrounding cities

The average rent for an apartment in Orlando saw a greater decrease than in Kissimmee ($1,346), where prices went down by 1.5% since last year. On the other hand, in other surrounding cities, such as Sanford ($1,213), rent went up by 0.4%.

What it costs to rent in the largest renter hubs in the Orlando area

The city with the largest renter share is Orlando (65%), followed by Altamonte Springs and Kissimmee, where 59% of homes are renter households. In Altamonte Springs, apartment rents increased by 1.8% since last year, reaching $1,274. Sanford has the third largest share of renters (49%). In Maitland, where 48% of residents lease their home, the average rent is $1,621, going down by 0.5% in the past year.

The priciest and cheapest cities for renters in the Orlando area

Oviedo is the priciest city for renters in the Orlando area, with apartments renting for $1,756 per month. The average rent for apartments in Maitland is $1,621, the second most expensive, while Winter Garden ($1,476) comes in third.

For renters in search of budget-friendly apartments, Sanford’s $1,213 average rent is the cheapest in the Orlando area followed by Casselberry’s $1,217 rate. Altamonte Springs rentals are the third least pricey on the list, with a $1,274 average.
