Plants to get you through the summer
Aside from the refreshing shade the bigger ones shed, plants have their miraculous ways of curing mostly any type of disease or sickness. Some of them you can grow in your own apartment, not more pretentious than regular ornamental plants.
Aloe Vera: half-ounce of aloe vera gel with five drops of oil applied to the skin makes the heat rash redness disappear due to its anti-inflammatory effects. Adding some calendula salve can have a similar hydrating, calming effect. Sunburn? Make the pain go away by squeezing the amino-acid-rich gel directly from the plant.
Calendula: hydrates and calms irritated skin, but also prevents infection of cuts and scrapes suffered out on trails during your summer vacation. But not just this, the pot marigold has anti-fungal and skin regenerative properties, good for all ages.
Lavender: another great cure for sunburn. Mix 10 drops of lavender essential oil with a cup of powdered milk, shake them in a jar and let them sit for a day before pouring into lukewarm bath water, you’ve got the perfect skin-cooling soak. A cup of lavender tea before bedtime will help you dream peacefully, just as fresh flowers in a satchel will.
Chamomile: picnics every free moment might cause burden to your belly. Drink a cup of chamomile tea to aid your digestion. One of its most well-known benefits is as sleep aid, a cup of tea before bed time and you’ll dream peacefully.
Eucalyptus: Infusing it breaks up the congestion that accompanies summer colds; as an antiseptic put a drop of the oil to a compress above the wound to kill the bacteria.
