A few college blogs you might want to read

You’re headed back to school, so the last thing you probably have time to do is pile on more reading material to your already packed schedule. But we recently found a whole bunch of blogs that supply advice and insight specific to the ins and outs of college life, so of course we wanted to share them with you.  We’re here to give you advice about renting and making the most of your apartment rental experience, and these blogs are on a mission to make your college experience better in all sorts of ways.

Split It: 5 Things You Can Share with Your Roomie: Some practical advice about how to keep your costs down by splitting more than just rent and utilities. If you’re willing to go splitsies, food, entertainment, and transportation costs can all be drastically reduced. So can college textbooks,  appliances, maybe even computing devices? I successfully shared a bike with my roommate in college, but that was only because she rarely wanted to ride it. Come up with your own creative ideas for sharing and keeping down costs.

Maybe a bit on the obvious side, but the post includes some excellent points about how you can free up space in your dorm room by avoiding unnecessary possessions. We’d add a few items of our own to the list: television (you won’t have time to watch TV at college, there’s too much stuff to do and explore), desktop computer (go for a laptop, ultrabook or keyboard-equipped tablet instead), and junk food (choose healthy snacks to keep your brain focused while studying and avoid college weight gain).

Dorm room ideas from actual dorm rooms: This is unusual. A college life blog where readers submit pictures of their actual dorm rooms (note what a nice job they’ve all done cleaning them up before they snapped the photograph).
