Yoga – bring your spirit home, at home

It’s beyond trendy and in vogue, for all ages and abilities. Perhaps you’ve tried it, or at least you heard of its amazing effects on the spirit and body.
Perhaps you practice everyday in some yoga studio that has helped you reach that level of comfort and relaxation needed for a successful session. Perhaps you’re more like me who can’t stand the idea of sweating in a room with other people and prefer a much cozier and intimate environment to let go…like your apartment. In your apartment, you can listen to your body’s needs every day, where you can move at your own pace, developing intuition about what sequences or kinds of yoga poses you want and need to do most on any given day.
Creating a yoga sanctuary in the comfort of your apartment doesn’t require an expensive budget. You’ll need an uncluttered space where you have the privacy you grasp for to perform your exercises, a mat, towels, and the right atmosphere. If you’ve come across a yoga DVD you enjoy, or some online yoga classes, even better, add a TV or laptop to the list. The space can be in either your bedroom or living room, wherever you have space to stretch at your full length; solid wall space is needed if you like to do inversions, one that is sturdy enough to withstand kick ups as you learn standing on your hands. The right light is important, too bright light can distract you, and too little light can keep you in the dark, not just literally. Burn some incense you like, to help you relax and breathe intensely. Play some yoga music in the background, and if you’re an iPhone user then check out the App Store for some amazing nature music apps.
Namaste.
