You’re just one chair away from fabulous design!
A few years back, when I had moved to my current apartment, I would have rather sat on the floor than go shopping for chairs. Moreover, the prospect of having to go through dozens, hundreds of models had become daunting. Brace yourselves! We are going to have a much needed discussion about chairs.
Practical vs. Impractical
Before going shopping for chairs, you should make a commitment! Decide how much comfort matters to you. You might be surprised by this assertion, but some buyers choose chairs solely on their design with no consideration whatsoever to comfort or practicability.
While these chairs could complement perfectly a garden, and would put Alice at ease that she still is in Wonderland, they are made of plastic! Granted, it may be eco-friendly and recyclable, but the issue remains. They are uncomfortable!
Congruous vs. Incongruous
Unfortunately for the chair-challenged shopper, deciding if chairs should be congruous or incongruous with your décor is a matter of taste. Generally, a good starting point is to consider the chromatic palette of the room. If your décor is consistent and if you haven’t used more than 3 colors, you could go for options that pop.
Chair variation vs. Chair consistency
Every now and then, people like to be bold with their furniture and choose style diversity. So, they end up with 9 chairs of different types and styles. If successful, you can have great results with this maneuver. But, you should keep in mind that not everything is appropriate! If you are new to the décor game, or if you don’t feel 100 percent confident that something works, find an alternative solution.
