Bring Fashion Week into your home design scheme

If you’ve been following the fashion creations of the world’s greatest designers, being showcased in New York City over the last few days for Fashion Week, then you’ve probably already realized that some of the concepts that hit the runway for spring/summer 2012 might be better off as design concepts for your home.

To prove that we are not completely crazy for having this thought, check out the following fashions, and their home design counterparts (all home decor images were found via Pinterest). We’re betting you might not rush out to adorn your body with some of these .. umm.. let’s call them interesting outfits.. but the decor alternatives look great!

But stripes can make a stylish impact even on a fairly formal home. Here, they draw the eye to the dining set.

Prints from Fashion Week

Prints that look like Grandma’s sofa were shown in one collection at Fashion Week. Upholstery inspired outfits?

Floral fabric headboard design

But a bright floral print on a fabric covered headboard, paired with offset pillows, looks trendy, different and cool.

What do you think? Would you choose the straight-off-the-runway fashions or their apartment design counterparts? Which of these looks are you most likely to try to replicate in your own home?

I would say the black and white stripe sells it for me. It’s edgy and somehow fits my type of personality. These are great inspirations for home decor.

  2. You are right in saying some of these clothes look better as home decor ideas. I really like the bright floral colored headboard.
