Time to cowboy up – Prescott Frontier Days are here

Bronc riding at Prescott rodeoYeeeehaw! The rodeo is coming to town! Well, close. Since 1888 the City of Prescott has played host to the biggest and oldest rodeo around.  The biggest social event for cowboys and cowgirls for decades now maintains the most iconic cowboy tradition of the Old West. The customs hold firm at the Prescott Frontier Days events and allows the cooped up cowboy roots of native Westerners stretch, or allows sissy East coast folks have a glimpse at what the Old West was like.

The 125th annual Prescott Frontier Days event takes place starting Thursday, June 28, and ending with a bang on the Fourth of July.   This week long event will play host to a bunch of fun Rodeo events including an arts and crafts show, a rodeo dance, a nondenominational church service on Sunday morning, a Queen coronation and a parade.  There will be eight action packed rodeo performances spread out throughout the week complete with bull riding, roping, clowns, and horse riding.

If you’ve never had the pleasure of attending a rodeo, this is your chance.  The Prescott Frontier Days hosting of what is legitimately the “World’s Oldest Rodeo” is just about the best first time experience out there.  Don’t be afraid to let loose, try out that western drawl on a stranger, and try your hand at being that rough and tumble cowboy or cowgirl you used to pretend to be as a kid.

Taking a day trip up to Prescott to have a legitimate Rodeo experience is well worth the drive.  When you arrive, admission to the rodeo performances range from $12 to $25 depending on the day of the performance and the location of the seats.  The rest of your daytrip should be relatively inexpensive and an absolute blast.  You know you have been looking for a reason to squeeze back into those Levi’s, rock your cowboy boots and have a reason to say, “ya’ll”.

The Prescott Frontier Days World’s Oldest Rodeo website has all the information you will need to organize a fun day trip or maybe the entire Fourth of July weekend in one of the most American ways possible.
