Breaking out of your date spot routine

There’s always dinner, a movie, a bar; sure, these are typical date ideas.  If you’re looking to stand out and really make an impression, and hopefully you are, you shouldn’t rely solely on your charming personality, quick wit and conversational skills to keep the date going smoothly.  Sometimes the key here is a unique date spot and a fun activity over which to get to know each other better. Sitting across a table from your date playing twenty questions will only tell you so much, oftentimes experiencing their personality in action is much more insightful.

The absolute last thing you’ll want to do is take him or her to the same old restaurants. Not only does this lose points for creativity, there is always the chance your date has been on previous date at that spot already, and has already made an association with that restaurant with someone else.   So what the heck are you supposed to do for a unique idea? I mean dinner, coffee, drinks, and sometimes a movie are typical date ideas because they allow two people to converse and get to know one another over an activity. Here’s something new you may want to throw into the mix!

Me The Artist is a local studio in North Phoenix, offering a two-hour evening painting session for you and a date to get to know each other over a canvas and a paint palette.  Their classes are led by professional art teachers to offer up painting pointers and answer your questions.  This session is less of an art class than it is an opportunity to have fun and do something silly while getting to know your date.  Not to worry, there is plenty of time for chatting, small talk, and interaction.

Bring your own bottle of wine or a few of your favorite beers to sip (or gulp if things aren’t going well) while you’re hard at work flirting and painting the night away.  How great of an idea is that?

For $80, both you and a date are each given a 16×20 inch canvas and free reign to every color of paint your artistic juices require. You’ll have the next two hours to create your next masterpiece and hopefully get to know your next main squeeze!
