“With art, Philadelphia”
Philadelphia welcomes a fresh take on art in 2012.
The “With Love, Philadelphia” slogan has taken over Philly marketing by storm. Street vendors and shop owners are cashing in, drawing in tourists with hats, T-Shirts, and shot glasses that are plastered with our city’s trademark graphic.
Museums are getting hip to the marketing technique as well. ‘With Art Philadelphia’ posts a myriad or arts related events throughout the year. This is perhaps the best place to get the inside scoop on arts events in Philadelphia.
And just what can we expect? Benjamin Franklin Parkway will be home to quite a few of 2012’s artists highlights.Over two hundreds of works by Rodin and Renoir, and scores of Matisse and Cezanne paintings will be available for public viewings at locals museums on the strip.
You don’t need to go to museums to appreciate great art. The arts scene in Philly is as diverse as its population. There are more outdoor works of art in Philadelphia than any other city in the US. Our streets are like galleries, where guests and residents can appreciate stunning sculptures, murals, and reliefs free of charge.
There is much more to come:
- The grand opening of the Barnes Foundation in May 19. The foundation has relocated from Marion.
- PAFA’s ‘Visions of Arcadia’ opening June 20.
- PAFA’s ‘PAFA and Dr. Barnes’ opening April 7.
- The spring reopening of the Rodin Museum.
