Philly Tap Finder – locate great craft beer near you

Now here’s an app I can get excited about.

The Philly Tap Finder is on the scene with accolades as the best craft beer locator to be found in the city. The designers behind this savvy interface clearly know their beer and have made the bar rounds in Philly more than a few times.

One of the best features of Philly Tap Finder is the way you can sort the information.  Whether you want to look for bars by what’s on tap, what neighborhood they’re located in, specific styles of beer that they carry or what their name is, you will not be disappointed. Quickly locate and cross reference the bar nearest you and whether it carries your favorite kind of Stout on tap.

This would be especially perfect for those nights when you’re heading out with your friends, and someone suggests a bar – but you have no idea whether or not it will meet the discerning tastes of all the members of your group.

(In other words, I’ve got a lot of friends whose girlfriends are not OK with drinking Guinness. They’re more Stella Artois type of gals.)

Another thing that’s great about Philly Tap Finder is the beer descriptions. The contributors to the site have clearly tasted every single beer that is listed on here (or, they’ve just been to an awful lot of brewery websites). It’s a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it. I’d work for free!

Philly Tap Finder was awarded Philadelphia Magazine’s Best of Philly 2012 honors. The site is still in its early days so look for the founders to continue improving it and adding things like events for each bar, to make it even better, going forward. Here’s to good beers!
