Vampires and werewolves in town for Twilight convention

Twilight fans just can't get enough of their favorite characters. If you waited in line all night to see Twilight movie Breaking Dawn: Part 1 just a few days ago, then we know where we’ll find you in Dallas on Dec. 3 and 4 – at the Twilight Convention at the Westin Park Central Hotel, a fan event where some of the actors from the Twilight movies will be making appearances.

There’s actually an entire series of these Twilight fan conventions all over the country, kind of like a concert tour. Different actors make appearances at each one, and the degree of stardom of those who are able to make it is not of the Kristin Stewart or Robert Pattinson variety.

Still, there’s apparently a pretty large contingent of dedicated fans who are willing to shell out $69 for breakfast with Nikki Reed (played Rosalie Hale) or to get a glimpse of Guri Weinberg, who played Romanian Coven Vampire Stefan in the last two movies. He does have an especially vampire-like stare.

For those of us who aren’t fans of the books or movies, this all inspires more than a few eye rolls – just think about all the sushi or beer or even movie tickets that the price of admission to this convention can buy – but as this is the end of the Twilight series, we’re inclined to put it up with it for just a little while longer.. though there’s probably some kind of spinoff coming on down the production line soon. Children of Twilight? Sounds like a good name for a follow-up to me.

The folks who run this convention, by the way, have really figured out some smart ways to make money. In addition to Twilight, they have Star Trek, Vampire Diaries, Xena and Stargate events, although it looks like Twilight has been their most effective crowd-drawer for the last few years.
