Two Dallas designers compete on HGTV’s Design Star All Stars

There are not one but two designers to root for from Dallas on the first season of HGTV’s Design Star All Stars, which premiered July 31. Design Star operates much like The Next Food Network Star on HGTV’s sister station, The Food Network, where participant’s skills are put to the test and the winner gets their own show on the respective networks. Design Star All Stars differs somewhat from the original Design Star in that there are only six participants and they have the PDC showrooms at their disposal, as opposed to Design Star where the designers had to use resources from specified places like a pet store or mechanic shop. In other words, this ain’t no joke.

The Dallasite that everyone seems to be watching is Hilari Younger, who took third place in season 7 that just wrapped up a few weeks ago. Younger’s aesthetic leans towards a bohemian style with an “eclectic mix of ethnic modern and ornate glamour.” She also love love loves reviving vintage, drawing inspiration from fashion and classic movies.

Former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Leslie Ezelle takes a more traditional yet contemporary approach to her designs with clean lines, transitional furnishings and a focus on organization and being able to design on a dime. Ezelle finished right smack dab in the middle at 6th place on Design Star’s 6th season. (Maybe this time she’ll be first place on Design Star All Stars first season, fingers crossed!)

Whether you prefer classic contemporary, bright bohemian or somewhere in between, these are two women to watch that can inspire, create and execute a whole room design in two days flat. After the season premiere, both women were voted “In” (as in, didn’t win the challenge but were also not voted off). Design Star All Stars airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on HGTV.
