Street Food Artistry festival brings exquisite flavors to Bridgeport

street food artistry festival chicagoPrimarily a residential, multi-ethnic neighborhood that has evolved over generations to a dynamic, cozy little spot on the near South Side, Bridgeport is also home to plenty of fashionable boutiques, appealing eateries and vibrant urban events. Schaller’s Pump for one has been in business for over 100 years now and is still a great location to watch a Sox game while chowing down a nice juicy traditional steak.

One of the area’s most notable structures, the Zhou B. Art Center, located at 1029 W. 35th St. will host a major culinary bash this summer. On Sunday, August 12, the gallery will showcase an unbelievable display of artistic talent, cooking skills and delicious flavors at the second annual celebration of the culturally and artistically diverse Street Food Artistry fest.

“After an overwhelming response and attendance for our first event, it became obvious that we would make the event annual. Chicago in the summertime does such an amazing job with food, music and art fests. For Street Food Artistry, we decided to bring all those elements together in one event and for one ticket price so locals and visitors would have a place to enjoy diverse Chicago cultural elements seamlessly in a single day in one place” said Patrice Perkins and Alicia August-Wright, co‐founders of Street Food Artistry.

In a remarkable parade of culinary skills and creativity, Chicago’s most talented chefs will prepare street-inspired dishes to the delight of attending visitors, foodies and art enthusiasts alike. Envisioned as a multifaceted event, representative of the neighborhood’s own diverse vibe, the family-friendly fest includes fine examples of street art and face painting, live entertainment, photography exhibits with Chicago art lovers and gallery owners curators, a Food Truck Pavilion, a sound stage, cooking demonstrations as well as mixology sessions featuring adult beverages for starters.

This culinary and artistic explosion shall be preceded by an invite only reception on August 11, hosted by Chef Roble Ali of Bravo TV’s Chef Roble & Co.
