Preparing for college or preparing for life?!
Some say that college is the best time of your life. And for many people it is, especially if you know how to handle all the pressure and make the most of every new single challenge you encounter. At the end of the day, it’s all that matters, that you feel satisfied with what you’ve accomplished and that you did your best in every situation.
Housing during college, especially if you’re planning to leave your home town, will play a very important role in your academic life, in your development as a social being and your adjustment to the new chapter of your existence. You’ll probably be confronted for the first time in your life with grown-up problems, with paying rent and utility bills and dealing with people that have other priorities than taking care of you and your needs. Your grades will even depend on it; living on-campus has many advantages and should be experienced by all students; at least for their first academic year. It’s where all the action is, with all the libraries, research resources, cafeterias and recreational facilities swarming with enthusiastic college students.
Freshman year is all about getting perspective, making new acquaintances and friends that will accompany you all through this ecstatic journey. But you have to love people and social interaction cause there is someone at every corner if living in a dorm. Otherwise consider other housing options. Let’s just say privacy is not on the amenities list. But that’s exactly the charm of college life; not saying it’s all about the drinking parties and having fun but these are important stages to go through before diving into family life and other grown-up responsibilities. When looking back to college times, it’s always nice to say “oh, that was awesome” and be grateful for the whole experience.
If dorm life is just not for you or you want to experience urban living at its best, there are plenty of student-friendly apartments to rent in Chicago that will give you prime access to big city life, including rewarding cultural activities and entertaining social life. Chicago is a city of world-class museums and leading theatre companies, major sporting events and sports venues, magnificent outdoors with beautiful beaches and lush parks, and extremely diverse when it comes to cuisine and dining options. Plus you get to choose between top universities like University of Chicago, University of Illinois, Northwestern or Loyola that will safely guide you to complete maturity and independence.
