Horses, hatters, and plenty of tea

Enjoy high tea with the Mad Hatter at St. Regis for the Kentucky Derby.woman at St. Regis tea party in Atlanta, GA

It’s impossible to have too much of a good thing! May is the month chosen by St. Regis Atlanta to bring a few of the season’s best traditions together under one roof.

The Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea is similar to the site’s traditional Afternoon Tea parties with an added twist: a lovely, whimsical, funky hat showdown in honor of the Kentucky Derby. Hats are strongly encouraged (though not required) so find the most vibrant headdress available and rock it with pride.

Participation in the event goes beyond pretty hats, of course. While at the tea party, guests are invited to savor the delicate flavors of scones, baked goods, and appetizers such as salmon mousse tartlets with whipped boursin, goat cheese stuffed baby tomatoes with micro-spring onions and chicken pâté on herb croûte with poached quail egg among others. When you’re in the mood for sweets, go all out with Tweedle Dee cookies, Queen of Hearts Cupcakes or the masterful Mad Hatter’s peanut butter fudge creation.

Hungry yet? Good. And of course, since it is tea time, there will be various teas and coffees to choose from. Tickets to Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea cost $40 between 2:30pm and 4:30pm.
