custom wedding invitations in Atlanta, GA

Invitations created by Hi Note

Custom stationery sets the tone for your event before guests ever reach the venue. Make an excellent first impression with these fine paper and stationery shops in Atlanta.

House warmings, weddings, baby showers, anniversaries—the events that we plan in our lifetimes seem endless. Getting the word out about these events has become easier, yet getting good attendance and establishing the proper tone has become harder.

The issue with electronic invitations is that they can become woefully impersonal. Is an invitation to your wedding really on the same plane as Groupon notices and spam for adult sites? Visually, there isn’t much of a difference between those three items in your guests’ inbox.  Worse, some spam filters will suck away your electronic invitation. When your guests do receive the evite, it can be pushed amid other notifications that guests won’t see unless they’re looking for it.

Paper invitations have not lost their element of charm and customization. Paper products shout, “I’ve taken the time to invite you—write your name, find and attach your address, and even stamp it for ya’—because you matter to me. Your attendance is monumental. Be there!”

Even in a batch of mail fliers and coupons, quality paper stands out. Size, shape, and texture catch guests’ attention. The contents of the envelope can then be posted in a place where guests can see it and remember: bulletin board, fridge, bathroom mirror, wherever!

Paper invites also help to establish your mood. Both invitation forms can manipulate color, design and sound yet printed invitations capitalize use the elements of touch, scale, and even scent. It’s putting a piece of your event in the mail, like an appetizer, to let guests know what they’ll be missing if they don’t RSVP.

We chose to work with Hi Note because they were a small business and we felt we would get the attention and care we wanted from a custom invitation designer. It’s clear, however, that they are a very young business and cannot balance the demands that come along with managing multiple clients. When we started the process, we clearly stated what we’d like to hire them for: invitations, then menu cards and different reception pieces. During the discussions on how our invitations would be designed, they became extremely defensive, getting noticeably upset with us for not liking their work and telling us we had little review time left so we needed to pick something quickly. Eager to get the invitations processed and move on to the next step, my fiancé and I did everything in our power to respond quickly and efficiently. To complicate matters, we only met with them one time face to face before we moved out of town, and were working on everything via phone and e-mail. We had to almost beg to speak to them over the phone just to explain what we wanted. At the end of the process, after making several mistakes with shipping our materials, they told us they had “too many clients, too much work, and would be unable to complete our projects.” That was about three weeks before the wedding, so my fiancé and I, in addition to wrapping up the plans for our out-of-town wedding, had to scramble to DIY the rest of our reception printed materials. Perhaps Hi Note is more responsive and reliable when working with in-town clients, but if they have the ability to cut off a client before the work is done, then I wouldn’t put it past them to drop any project that didn’t excite them or fire any couple who doesn’t completely buy in to their design aesthetic. I would strongly encourage anyone to look elsewhere, and to find a business that has a solid reputation spanning many years and strong, positive reviews. It’s certainly worth the peace of mind to hire a competent and caring design firm, and Hi Note has a long way to go to become one.

Over the years I’ve received a lot of stationery that were printed with less than expected quality. Last year my company in Palm City FL, printed some stationery with PCA Delta and they were great. I’ve been printing with them ever since. If you need stationery printed go to http://www.pcadeltaprinting.com/ I strongly recommend them.
