Get that spooky spirit

Agathas Next Bite at TwilightAre you ready for Halloween? Got a new costume all ready to impress your friends? Or are you still thinking about recycling the one you wore last year… and the year before that?

Never fear, Atlanta residents. We have some fun ideas for how to get that spooky spirit with activities and events around the city that will inspire and maybe even scare you just a little bit.

  • Check out Agatha’s Taste of Mystery Dinner Theatre. If you’ve never been to a dinner theater performance before, it’s a lot of fun. You get to enjoy a five course meal while being entertained… right from your table! The current show at Agatha’s is “Next Bite at Twilight,” a campy spin on the Twilight vampire series. Sounds spookylicious and hilarious. The show runs through Nov. 2. Website: http://www.agathas.com
  • See “The Castrator” on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at the Cinefest Film Theatre, 7 p.m. This indie flick about a man who is a teacher but ends up as a serial killer sounds like it could scare any educational aspirations out of you.
  • Go searching for the Great Pumpkin. When was the last time you carved a pumpkin for Halloween? Gather your friends and head down to the nearest pumpkin patch to pick out the perfect orange globe for your carving delight. Then work on your masterpiece to see who came up with the coolest concept. No pumpkin patch near you? Most grocery stores are carrying pumpkins right about now.
  • Complex Chaos at the Spring4th Complex, Oct. 29. The ultimate Halloween dance party. More than 30 DJs will be there mixing up spooky tunes. Wear a costume and get your groove on.  Black lights, lasers, and seven stages! Tickets are just $11 and if you buy them early you get in to a pre-party event on Oct. 28. www.quad.wantickets.com
