Denver’s 2015 Largest Rental Developments Opened the Doors to Almost 3,000 New Units
Great things happened in Denver in 2015: the Broncos made it to the Super Bowl (and won) and Denver topped Forbes’ 2015 List of the Best Places for Business and Careers. Peyton Manning and a thriving job market are enough reasons to draw attention (and large numbers of new residents) to Denver. The demand for more housing options remains elevated as the city is trying to keep up.
Using data provided by Yardi Matrix, we found a total of 17 new properties — in the large developments category (those with more than 50 units) — that opened their doors in 2015. Combined, they delivered 2,895 apartments for rent in Denver. The largest was Westend at 3500 Rockmont Drive, which opened as many as 390 rental units. The numbers are down from 2014, when 24 properties with 4,488 total units were completed.
The newly-opened apartment buildings offer nothing less than luxury accommodation in some of city’s best locations — but at premium prices in some cases. Studios at the Platform start at $1,600 and 2-bedroom units go up to $6,600 per month. At Steele Creek — a high-rise rental apartment building operated like a 5-star hotel — rents go as high as $7,575 per month for a 2-bedroom apartment.
