Being such a short drive away from LA means Palmdales residents have plenty to look forward to in the form of pro sports. You've got the iconic Lakers, of course, plus the Dodgers and the city's newly acquired NFL team, the LA Rams.

If shopping's more your thing, you're in luck. Palmdale has its own massive, one million square-foot shopping mall, Antelope Valley Mall. It boats 150 shops and over a dozen restaurants. There's even a theater, if you're in the mood for a flick.

Fun for the whole family can be had at the DryTown Water Park, where you and the crew can cool down on a warm summer day. Or for something a little drier, check out Blackbird Airpark, located at Edwards Air Force Base. Here you can see actual Blackbird combat aircraft and tour the on-site museum.

The nearby city of Lancaster has a couple of great annual festivals, the California Poppy Festival and the Antelope Valley Fair. Both feature exhibits, vendors, local food, and music. And of course, the fair also has rides and games for the young and old.
